Michelle A. Mahabirsingh is an experienced legal consultant, strategist, negotiator and public speaker with practice areas that include education, not-for-profit, risk assessment and compliance, securities regulation, acquisition finance and complex dispute resolution.
Ms. Mahabirsingh has also worked in the special education field and founded The Moving Minds Forward Foundation (MMFF). She has been recognized for her work in education law and compliance, school placement, discipline, IEP planning and collaborative multi-stakeholder advocacy techniques. Ms. Mahabirsingh has testified, on multiple occasions, for the New Jersey State Senate Education Committee. In addition, she has held numerous recurring lecturing engagements at Fortune 500 companies that provide access to special education law workshops as a benefit for employees who have children with special needs. Ms. Mahabirsingh currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Children’s Specialized Hospital of New Jersey’s Center for Discovery, Innovation and Development (CDID) and is a neutral facilitator for the New York State IEP Facilitation Program where she helps resolve conflicts between school districts and parent stakeholders.
Previously, Ms. Mahabirsingh was an associate at the international law firm of Dewey & LeBeouf in their Acquisition Finance practice. During law school, she held internship positions with the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE Euronext) Market Regulation Division and The United States Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of New York, White Collar Crimes Unit.
Ms. Mahabirsingh is an Archibald Murray Public Service Award recipient and a former Dewey & LeBeouf Social Action and Advocacy Scholar. She earned her JD from Fordham University School of Law, holds a BA from the University of Maryland, College Park and is a member of both the New York and New Jersey State Bars.
